Every Tuesday night, Keri Kelsey hosts The Gardenia Singers’ Open Mike, certainly the best and longest-running Open Mike in Los Angeles, supported by the most accomplished musicians in the city, all of whom are well-regarded by, and well-utilized by, “the Hollywood entertainment industry,” and who vary individually from week to week.  Of late, most Tuesday nights feature at the minimum a pianist and a guitarist, but more often than not a stand-up bassist completes a trio, and on occasion a drummer will complete a quartet.  All musicians are “live”—this is not karaoke.  There is even a talented musician/engineer who mans the lights-and-sound board. USA Today has rated these evenings as one of the “Top 10 Open Mic Nights” in the country.  If you are “honing your chops” for an upcoming show somewhere; simply responding to the announcement of “Singers’ Open Mike” on our marquee on Santa Monica Boulevard; or if you are present merely to enjoy the varied talents, music, and presentations, you are welcomed with open arms and warmth.  Please note that, as is customary, a cover charge and two-drink minimum apply.
