Sat., Dec. 7.  JEUDI presents “Jeudi’s Vintage Holiday Special.” Here is a description of the show in her very own words:

Once again, I’m putting together a terrific vintage variety show program that harkens back to the beloved TV Holiday Specials of yore, inspired by those of my idol, Judy Garland. I’m delighted to be sharing the stage with my husband, Paul Hemstreet and my stage husband, Michael Marlen-Starr, as well as Patricia Bahia, David Lucky and Jill Sargeant & Gordon Grajek. And though presenting these holiday specials have become my tradition, this is a new show, and we won’t be serving up the same old chestnuts! You’ll be treated to some swinging & sentimental holiday songs from my Winter Was Warm album, plus some fresh new tunes performed by this terrific group of singer songwriters, who will be showcasing some of their poignant, inspiring & funny original holiday music. This show’s going to be the tuneful tonic that we’re all needing! Come join us for a cozy evening of magical merriment, levity, love and laughter!

The “Vintage-voiced Chanteuse,” Jeudi Cornejo Brealey, comes by her passions naturally as the daughter of a suave, storytelling Costa Rican tuna pole-fisherman father and a stylish Mexican American mother, who competed in USO swing dance contests while working in an airplane factory by day.  Encouraged by her family to explore the arts, Jeudi took advanced studies at The Sorbonne and at the NYU-Tisch School of the Arts, and earned her MFA at CalArts.  Considering herself a “musical archeologist,” she delves deeply into our musical past, dusting off gems worthy of play, but somehow forgotten in the rushing flood of titles and evolving musical genres that define new generations.  Her CD, Winter Was Warm, boasting intriguing but mostly lesser-known, mostly early mid-20^th-century, seasonal fare, prompted the venerated jazz icon, Mark Winkler, to enthuse, “The best holidays songs you’ve never heard!”  From Oct. 2021 through Feb. 2023, Jeudi worked toward perfecting her musical, Love Outshines the Moon, with a residency of monthly performances at The Jeweled Universe in Pasadena.  New developments pertaining to the musical…and more information…can be gleaned at www.jeudi.biz and at bandcamp.com/jeudibrealey.
