SUMMARY:CRAIG POMRANZ
DESCRIPTION:Fri. & Sat.\, March 21 & 22.  CRAIG POMRANZ.  After moving to New York from St. Louis\, where at the age of 12 he made his professional debut as “Tom of Warwick” in the St. Louis Municipal Opera production of Camelot\, (with John Cullum and Sally Ann Howes\,) Mr. Pomranz became a studio singer and a regular/headliner in the cabaret and jazz rooms of Manhattan\, including “The Ballroom\,” “The Horn of Plenty\,” and “Caroline’s.” He was the first white male singer to be asked to perform at the blues/jazz room “Sweetwaters\,” and for over a month played to sold-out audiences at three clubs at once:  “Freddy’s\,” “East Five Three\,” and “Mickey’s.”  He created and opened “The Whaler Bar” at The Madison Towers Hotel\, and helped create “Rainiers” at New York’s Sheraton Centre\, “Upstairs at Flowers\,” and the music room at the infamous Regine’s “Café Reginette” on Park Avenue.  He has worked with Teddi King\, Murray Grand\, Betty Buckley\, and Nancy LaMott\, has recorded with Barbara Cook\, Kaye Ballard\, and Faith Prince\, and was hailed as “Tenor of the Times” by GQ Magazine.  His CD\, My Heart Don’t Skip a Beat\, was chosen as “Featured CD of the Week” on WBAI FM Radio\, and led to performances in London and throughout the U.S.  Of performances in New York\, Joe Regan\, Jr.\, of Cabaret Exchange remarked “I haven’t seen spontaneous standing ovations like this at The Metropolitan Room except for Julie Wilson and Marilyn Maye.”  And from The New York Post:  “His four-octave voice is alternately affecting\, powerful\, and nuanced.  It is one of the finest instruments in the city.”  Mr. Pomranz received the New York MAC Award for “Best Male Vocalist 2012.”  The second vocalist to re-open The Gardenia in 2021 following the pandemic closure\, he returns to his West Coast home with this brand new show.  More can be learned at www.CraigPomranz.com
